What We Check
- Mineral dealer licence - confirmed directly with the issuing authority, checked against the public register (see below), not taken from a scanned certificate.
- Independent assay - purity and composition tested by a third-party laboratory.
- Export documentation - permit and certificate of origin confirmed before shipment.
Why verification matters

Verify the licence yourself
Uganda’s Directorate of Geological Survey and Mines publishes a public register of active mineral dealer and refining licences through the national mining cadastre portal at dgsmportal.minerals.go.ug. Each entry shows the licence code, the licence type, whether it is active, the grant and expiry dates, and the party it was issued to.
Two things follow from that. First, mineral dealer licences run to 31 December of the year of issue, so a licence granted in one year and quoted to you in the next has expired. Second, and more usefully: you do not have to take anyone’s word for it.
Ask a prospective supplier for the exact registered company name on their licence and the licence code, then look both up in the register yourself rather than accepting a scanned certificate by email. A scan can be edited. A public register cannot.
